so, I've been busy!

I've had so much going on, but I hope to make this blog much more active over the summer.
Heres a brief recap of what I've been doing:

I had a birthday, and my friend got me this (very accurate) mug:

I made a Wiksten tank that I wear all. the. time. I love it so much! I can't wait to make another!

I bought lots of great fabric!
(keep in mind that this was over a 5 or so month period!)

I couldn't resist Indian Summer! I loved it since the very first time I saw it. I got a fat quarter bundle and some yardage, which is a total splurge for me.

I whipped up this little pouch the other night:

I went to a concert at the House of Blues Anaheim for a concert, where I  revisited the quilts that initially inspired me to start quilting. I learned more about them and that they are quilts of Gee's Bend  Alabama. The pictures I took are terrible, but what can you expect from a concert hall.

I reorganized my sewing shelf and got this nifty drawer thing! Unfortunately its already time to clean up that shelf again.

I made this super cute mini quilt top, inspired by Jeni's Patchwork Chevron quilt

Completely non sewing related, but I went on a cruise out of Miami during spring break! It was so fun. I would have liked to hunt out some quilting shops in Florida, but unfortunately there was no time!

I was involved in each of my school's four plays this year, doing stage crew for some, and running the tech booth for others. The last one was an original, taking place in a coffee shop like starbucks, but we changed the name to Star Cash. I volunteered to make the apron, which was a piece of cake, but two days before opening night, I decided to make and add a patch. It's definitely not my best work, because it was such a rush job, but it looked great from afar!

Thats certainly (more than) enough for one post! Hopefully I'll be back soon!

Saturday

Greetings from sunny, snowy, Mammoth California!

It's was an early morning, leaving the house at 4am this morning. As soon as the sun came up I started working on these Chicopee hexies!

It's been a good day already, now I'm off to hit some thrift stores, happy Saturday!

WIP Wednesday

Its my first WIP Wednesday! I'm so excited!
It's such a great reminder to get out things that I haven't worked on in far too long. It's also a perfect distraction from homework!

This quilt has been waiting for so long to be bound. Its happening right after this!

Some freshly pressed half rectangle triangles all ready to be trimmed.

And lastly, some 4 inch squares were just cut to be HSTs!

I just love those colors!

I'm linking up with Freshly Pieced for WIP Wednesday!

Hey there!

My name is Julie!
I’m very new to using Flickr and Blogger, but I have been following stalking so many really amazing blogs, I thought I should create my own!
A little bit about me, I'm a 16 year old Junior in high school living in Southern California. I live with my parents, my brother and the two cutest puppies you've ever seen.

I like trees...

And music...

And making yummy food...

And fabric... (who doesn't?!)

And sewing!

I love trying new things, and in Spring of 2012, I decided I wanted to make a quilt. I honestly have no idea where that came from considering I had next to no sewing experience. I came across Jeni's A M A Z I N G blog and fell in love. The next day I went to Joann's and got everything I needed and called up my Grandma to ask if I could borrow her sewing machine. It was so fun and exciting! (Even on my grandma's ancient machine that wouldn't even allow me to sew with a 1/4 in seam allowance) Unfortunately I should have  s l o w e d  down and started with something easier. I'm sorry to say that that quilt is now sitting on top of my bookshelf, butchered beyond repair. I made so many silly mistakes I know it would be so time consuming to make them right and finish it. Maybe someday!

After that I was extremely discouraged until November, when I broke down and got my very own sewing machine, my Singer Confidence Quilter! I love it so much and since then I have completed many projects and started 8 quilts. I have this awful habit of not finishing things before starting something else. I'm working on it, okay!

I can't wait to share all my past and future projects!
Thanks for reading!
